Debt Recovery Plus letter

Today I received a letter from Debt Recovery Plus, demanding £149 for overstaying permitted time at the Broadway Hotel in Letchworth. I was actually in the hotel in the day (last August) in question, having lunch with my Aunt.
This letter said that ANPR PARKING CONTROL had written to me recently about the charge, which I never received.
There was nothing put on my car on the day, and this demand from Debt Recovery Plus is the first communication I have received.
What should I do?

In addition to C-M's advice above you should also write a letter of complaint directly to the hotel management to get them to instruct the parking company to cancel the charge as you were a customer on the day in question (if you have a receipt or bank statement/credit card statement showing payment send a redacted copy with your complaint)
