I want a washing line I can winch up high

When I was a kid we all had them. Two tall poles. A fixed line lower down and another that once full could be winched up high into the air
I've found this company http://www.linepost.co.uk/acatalog/Linepost_Sets.html who do the sort of thing but they're £100s
Could I make my own with scaffolding poles and pulleys? I'd need some sort of plans and how would I fix the pulleys to the poles?
Has anyone done something similar?

Should be able to get the parts from a chandler's yard (shipping bits and bobs). We had one that used huge metal rings (about 6-8" diameter) that the line was tied to, with the pulley pulling the rings up the pole.0

I do not see any difficulty with that, just have a look below to see which bracket would work the best for you

but the short answer also could be to either weld a U shape thin rod to the pipe, or drill a hole and bolt it.0 -
B & Q or Wickes have a wide selection of pulleys and links to connect them to things. Basically you're going to need an eye bolt on the pole to connect the pully to via a link.0

This's great. Thanks all. Off to investigate your ideas. I don't think I can weld, and we're landlocked so no chandlers but it's given me a great starting point0

I managed to get hold of a piece of scaffold but the line is omly tied to that, probably about 8/9' high. The shackle/pully is attached to the house wall again about 9/10' high, at chest high is a to secure the rope to.

you could use something similar to a jubilee clip or some kind of double screw clamp to hold the other winch bit to the other pole.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

Fish n chips, that's great! Just the thing. I'd thought of having two poles but actually fixing one end to the house might work better0
