Just seen previous post. So all agreed? Restore is the way to go?
Or should I just take the phone to the store. I am worried that something will happen again and I've only 12 days of warranty left.

If you're worried about having a corrupt backup, but you know you have a good one from 2 weeks ago, I would suggest do the update, then reboot it, then do a restore.

The issue could be if the device was switched off while it was trying to do the update, that might have caused the problem - although that's just a guess on my part.
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?
  • If it is still less than a year old consider buying the Applecare 3 year warranty which is very comprehensive and Apple are very good at sorting problems even if the warranty has expired.
  • Thanks for all the help on this thread. My other thread is here in case someone else has similar issue:https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/63790416#Comment_63790416

Very strange. Can't update to 7.0.4 yet in trying, I can now use the phone again.
I will still take it to Apple as something is not right.
  • Phone was replaced
  • Update:
Should I be concerned ,do you think?

Yesterday, I received an acknowledgement email for a genius bar appointment at a store nowhere near me. I never made any appointment.
I looked at the store website, and to book an appointment you need your Apple ID and password.
Could this be linked to my returned faulty phone? I thought I watched the guy erase the faulty phone completely but can't think of any other possibility.

Should I create a new ID or just change the password to be on the safe side?
