Tesco Direct Faulty Dirt Devil

I bought a Dirt Devil vacuum from Tesco Direct in July, the motor has always got very hot very quickly and recently started cutting out. I returned it to my local Tesco store in Welshpool on Nov 5th with a receipt copy as it was paid for partly by Tesco vouchers the rest on credit card. At first I was offered a refund in the form of a Gift voucher but when I went to collect it after shopping in the store I was told there would be no refund and NOT THEIR PROBLEM I must contact the manufacturer as this is Tesco policy on electrical goods. I was also told TESCO DIRECT is NOT TESCO even though many of the same goods are on sale in the actual store! I insisted my issues were with the retailer not the manufacturer. I have emailed Tesco customer service with no reply whatsoever, any advice please?

You need to get in touch with Tesco Direct (which I believe is a separate company to Tesco Superstores). They can't tell you to go to the manufacturer. It's less than 6 months since you bought it so if it is faulty they have to offer a remedy unless they can prove the fault is not inherent.

As long as it was a store with a Tesco Direct area, then their own website says it is ok to return it there.
