best youtube downloader

Whats the best free youtube downloader, I used to go on cnet.com website and find one on there because they where always trusted to have virus free downloads even when being directed to a 3rd party website to download, ive used them for 10 years and had no problem but now it seems cnet.com do not check there 3rd party links because last week I downloaded a type of youtube downloader I cannot remember the name of it anyway viruses came with it and took me 2 hours to get ride of viruses. so sadly cannot trust cnet.com anymore, thankyou in advance

  • I personally use AppGeeker video converter.

It comes with downloading and conversion feature in one place.

It hasn't let me down yet . It does everything you could need.

I use Atube Catcher and it does all I need really simply. It is also very ajustable so you can download videos as mp3's etc if you wish. It also has variable quality settings

  • I used the DVD Videosoft YouTube Downloader as it had very good quality. When I used it, and it was some time ago now, I don't think it had YouTube -> MP3 conversion - which a program someone else suggested did.

Nonetheless it was freeware, not virus-laden, and just served its purpose.
