But he is, so why all the complaining, ranting and republicanism? If he made contribs, he gets a pension-period. I personally would rather see it go to charity over into the govt black hole.
This doesn't belong here, but do try your luck in the Arms where you can talk about anything.0 -
being poor is not fun
being wrong is not fun
thinking you have rights to a benefit then finding out too late that you don't, is not fun.
Just a quick sanity check, we are talking about the first in line to the British throne here, aren't we?being poorrights to a benefit then finding out too late that you don't0 -

No, we are talking about your accusation of posters being pedants. You are not helping yourself by quoting selectively, for completeness my quote began with
"if being a stickler for facts, truth and accurate advice makes me a pedant then I stand shoulder to shoulder with the rest of them..."
We can all have as much fun as we like but lets be clear about the separation of facts and truth from assumptions, misunderstandings and innuendo. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -

A republic is commonly defined as a state in which supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives, and which has an elected or nominated president rather than a monarch.
From reading the thread, I dont think this has been touched on. I dont think anyone has mentioned the abolition of the monarchy and replacement with for example, President Blair.
Now, if you mean a republic exists when anyone wholly or partially raises a historical fact about the monarchy, then you are being over sensitive and misunderstanding the gist"enough is a feast"...old Buddist proverb0 -
I am not misunderstanding the basic fact you are ranting against a future monarch because of who he is. And that he gets a pension. I also never said that a republic exists, just pointed our your republican sentiments.
They smack of republicanism to me, but if you say you aren't then we await your next anti monarchy diatribe to tell for sure.
I am not oversensitive, but I don't like to judge people no matter how high or low they were born. As they have no control on that fact. Nor to discriminate on that basis for access to a state pension, if a pension was earned via contributions.0 -
