Can you get a parking fine if no ticket issued directly to you?

Hi,
I have just been to collect my son from work, and waited for him in a lane at the back of M & S. My son got in the car, and a few seconds later I noticed that a traffic warden had come round the corner and was standing about 20 metres away from us. I immediately started the car and drove off. Hopefully I am just being paranoid, but as I drove off, the warden seemed to be giving us a funny look! Is it possible that he could have used our registration number to issue a fine (I'm fairly sure he wasn't there long enough to have taken a photo), even if no ticket was put on windscreen? He did not attempt to stop us or say anything, but the look definitely wasn't friendly! Thanks for any advice
This was a council warden by the way, not a private company

But was it on public land ? They cannot issue tickets on private land normally, was there any signage or restrictions there ?When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.

I think it was on public land, it is a lane down the side of the shops, where the loading area is. There are also yellow lines. As it is normally deserted , I just waited there for a few minutes for my son to come out, I was in the car the whole time.0

Well there is no point worrying over it, they do give tickets out in this situation at times, if you are one of those times come back here for help. Also post on https://www.pepipoo.com where they help appeal council tickets, and have a good track record of doing soWhen posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you.
