Our Old English sheepdog has this week had 5 seizures in 24 hours which was so distressing for him and very very scary to see.
He was at the vets twice on Wednesday and they also then kept him in overnight. He is home at the moment and has been given Pexion to see if this helps, we have to take him back in a week (or sooner if we have any problems).
We have insurance with John Lewis but as of yet I have not contacted them about making a claim (the vet said bring a claim form in when you come to your appointment next week and we will complete it and send it off for you). I`m wondering if I should be speaking to John Lewis in the meantime. I have a feeling this is going to be an ongoing condition with medication for the rest of his life (he is only 3), if the medication doesn`t work then there is a possibility it could be something more serious.
We have the policy that covers upto £7,000 each year continual if the policy is renewed each year. Our renewal is due 30th December so we have no alternative but to renew with them as otherwise he would not be covered for this condition should it become even more serious. I`m also expecting the renewal preium to increase a lot!! would I be right?
I have never had to make a claim before and am not really sure what is the best thing to do. Please can anyone advise?
Many thanks

Contact them now. Personally I'd have been on the phone to them yesterday, after the overnight stay. How much is your excess?Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j
If all else fails, remember, keep calm and hug a spaniel!0 -
Check your policy, many of the newer policies have a time limit on how soon you have to put your claim in, so better to speak to them sooner rather than later.0

Thank you both for replying, the excess is £60 and so far I have paid out £103 and £92.0

Might be worth investigating hypothyroidism, the OES is apparently a breed prone to it, and US vet Dr Jean Dodds says it's worth ruling in/out hypothyroidism in cases of seizures

Going to ring John Lewis now.0 -
Have spoken to John Lewis who told me to print off a claim form and send it in when I was ready.
Thanks all for replying0
