Fair boiler quote? and brand comparison

Hi,

We have received the below quote for a replacement bolier and was hoping the kind and knowledgeable people :o on mse forum, would give some feedback as to whether its a fair price and also, any opinions on the installers provided boiler options (my own leaning is to the Worcester 28i but i dont know if i've been 'brain-washed' by the current tv and radio advertising!)

we've used the installer for work before and have been pleased with his work (got from ratedpeople with excellent feedback)

it's Semi-detached house in Manchester, North-West and current system has 8No Rad's (7 with trv's, one towel rail without). one shower/bath with mixer tap.

we'd like spare capacity to add a downstairs toilet/shower and utility room in the future, which will probably require two small additional rads.

The Vaillant Ecotec plus range is a better choice, a 31kw shouldn't be too much more than the Pro range, has higher hot water output (assuming your cold water pressure is high enough) and comes with a 7 year warranty if the fitter is Vaillant registered.

you won't be able to use any of those with a 15mm gas supply, so if that's what he is proposing, time to get someone else, plus & you won't wanna hear this, but if your existing boiler isn't a combi then the prices are too cheap inc of vat
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.
  • I'd go Intergas myself. Why is he running the condensate externally when the boiler is in the kitchen?

Thanks. Existing boiler is a baxi combi 105 HE. I'm not sure what 15mm or 22mm means but when he came around for the survey he did say that the current pipework would allow for virtually any boiler brand to be put in its place.

Thanks. I think its because that is the route it currently takes so easier/cheaper? What are the alternatives?
  • Best option for condense is internal due to freezing problems running it externally. If a boilers in a kitchen or bathroom this is usually achieved relatively easily.
  • the gas supply is the pipe in the middle & should be 22mm (the same size as the two heating pipes)(the ones on the outside left & right) is it ?
