Sweet hamper - need some ideas

Options
I have started making a sweet hamper for my brother (who is 22) for Christmas and need some ideas for what to put in it. So far I have got a few American choc bars from Asda, a couple of tubs of penny sweets from the £ shop and a small tin of lollies. I was going to get some more single choc bars but after that I am stuck. I wanted to have a bit of variety but keep the cost down. Help, the creative juices are not flowing today!

I tend to stock up on the 4 kit-kats for £1 etc offers that the supermarkets always have in the run up to xmas rather than single bars

  • Are you close to Home Bargains?

They always have tons of extremely cheap sweets and snacks. They also tend to do the novelty type sweets like super-sour things, if your brother is that kind of guy. Last time I was there they also had some little tins of mints and some jars of hard sweets which looked more expensive that they were.
  • +1 for a toothbruth & toothpaste as well! Taped to the outside...
+1 also for B&M whose confectionery range is a serious challenge to my attempts to loose (or just maintain) weight!

I think Sainsbury still do 3 for £1 small packs of their own range sweeties - mix and match too.

On the Factory Shop thread, there is the Tangerine Sweets factory shop in Liverpool & Kinnerton's Chocolates in Fakenham, Norfolk - don't know if either of those are anywhere near you?
  • Flying saucers should be a must - cheap and will bulk out the box

I do a sweet box for my brother and sons every year. I brought a plastic clear box divided into compartments (usually used for screws etc) think I got them from Wilkos and then fill each compartment up with a different sweet. Things like shrimps, cherry lips, eggs, strawberry laces etc. They look great and I always get the empty boxes for a refill the following Xmas.
