Parking fine- can i appeal ?

Fel
I parked my car, bough a parking ticket from a nearby machine but forgot to stick the payment receipt in front of the car.
I was in a nearby bank and when i realized i went in with the ticket and went back t the car to put it in front of the car, I was already issued a parking fine.
I still have a copy of the ticket i paid. Do I have any chance f successfully appealing ? I plan to write the council.
Many thanks

You don't say who gave you this ticket, can you supply that?

As it sems it's a Council PCN, yes most people win appeals IN THE END. But most people are intially refused so be ready for a rejection letter and the Council dangling the carrot of the discount bribe to try to make you just pay.
You should appeal and say the CEO saw you with the P&D ticket so can they please check the CEO's notebook to confirm the driver was seen with P&D ticket in hand, and attach a copy of the P&D ticket in question (keep the original for next stage appeal if the Council do reject). Ask for copies of the CEO's notes & photos and a copy of the Traffic Order re that P&D bay, if they should reject (this evidence will help you if you have to appeal further).
Some Councils are quicker than others to allow this, but don't just give up & think you have no case to continue if you do get a template 'computer says no' rejection letter at first. Just means it would go to stage 2 'Notice to Owner' formal appeal - which is a repeat of stage one if you are also the owner! It would be a problem if it's a hired/company car though.
Then stage 3 is adjudication and there are no costs added or anything, it's an all or nothing appeal and most people win. You can get further help on pepipoo forums where the Council ticket experts are:

If you start a thread either now or at NTO stage, post pictures of all documents as you will see on other threads, they need to see every word, all small print & blurb front & back except the PCN number & your car reg of course (cover those).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Many thanks. It was in Slough ie Slough council.
I have the original ticket copy. I will appeal0 -
Honesty won't help.
Take that advice or leave it.
Does the time on your ticket pre-empt the time observed and time issued times on the pcn.Be happy...;)0 -
yes , time on my ticket was 11.34 am , time on PCN is 12.42, so 8 minutes apart0
-
sorry meant to state 11.42am not 12.42 above0

Should be fine in the end, but be aware some Councils play hardball as they know idiots just pay the discount.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

If you admit failing to display the ticket ALL appeals will fail, you can not use mitigation or excuses.
You either have a strict technical point or you do not.
Myself I would say "the contravention did not occur and here is the parking receipt to prove it.
The council always omit evidence that helps your case, it is a game.Be happy...;)0 -
thanks all0

I've had this - The machine only registered part of the money inserted and chucked the rest to the coin return slot.
I contacted the council operator concerned by phone, before I sent an informal challenge and they said two hold-off for two days so the machine could be checked (was still within the challenge period) - A couple of days later, I got a letter saying the ticket was cancelled due to the machine either being faulty or already full of money.
I also once found something similar at a machine in NI - It wouldn't take any money at all as it was stuffed to the gunwales - I hit the return button and got more than a tenner in change out of it. Not bad for somewhere that was 50p or a pound to aprk at the time!0
