My work programme advisor is suggesting I look at 15 hour positions as its about £160 more than JSA, living with parents no bills or anything to pay so could sign off and then provider said they would give a further two years support in which I can use their facilities and get support to get full time work
Do you think it's weird to be worried that I might take a 15 hour position, sign off and then get no support to find full time work from them as I've seen a few people around the internet say support from providers after getting a job doesn't really happen
My advisor said she's sure some work programme providers do forget about people once they've got a job but my one wont and will still provide as much help as I need
Apparently you don't get a dedicated advisor as part of in-work support but you are allowed to ask any of them for help. Would it be weird to still ask the person that was my advisor during the program for help if she is the one I feel most comfortable with0 -
Is it unrealistic to get a job now before the end of February, or if I really put the effort in tell my advisor I want as much help as possible off her and will accept any job even if its not the ideal one. Could it be possible to get something with alot of effort in 3 months ?0

Anything is possible. How many interviews are you getting a month at the moment?Claire_MUFC wrote: »Is it unrealistic to get a job now before the end of February, or if I really put the effort in tell my advisor I want as much help as possible off her and will accept any job even if its not the ideal one. At the moment, not many at all. Either down to the quality of my applications or maybe I need to set my expectations lower, I dunno. Applying for admin and retail positionsAnything is possible. How many interviews are you getting a month at the moment?

Should I just ask my advisor for some advice on how to possibly get more interviews and help with applications?0 -

That's what the WP is meant to be for

Yeah, they've put me forward for a job at Asda just this week, hopefully find whats going on with that on MondayShouldn't they be doing this already?

.
They did havr job search sessions with this guy, but I didn't feel that comfortable asking him for help and it was a group session which I hate asking for help in either less.
I have however got my own advisor, so gonna hopefully speak to her on Monday
I've got qualifications, I've had experience in retail and admin. I can only put it down to either the jobs I'm applying for or quality og my applications thats the problem. With some help to improve jobsearch and applications and get more interviews I think my confidence might improve some
I just got get lost explaining in person the help I want, would you just say like say that I want some help to get more interviews ?0 -

I bet though if anything like my old WP we know more than the advisor/sWe’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Is one on one help something you're allowed to ask for, or is that only if the advisors decide you need it ?you say you want one on one coaching and hope for the best

Definitely I think increasing my number of applications, making sure I'm applying for the right type of jobs to give myself a chance and getting my applications checked over by my advisor now
I agree some of the advisors don't seem to know what they're doing, but the one I have at the moment seems ok from when I have spoke to her, we had a long chat at my last appointment on Wednesday she was able to give me some advice from when she was in our position job hunting
Think my problem has been I don't really communicate my problems that much to her in person, I'm shy. I have this fear that saying about the things I think I need some help with will make me look completely dumb. But with 3 months left of WP I suppose I need to worry less about what they will think and more about making sure I ask for help0 -
How have they decided that you didn't need it? Did you never ask in 21 months on the WP?Claire_MUFC wrote: »Is one on one help something you're allowed to ask for, or is that only if the advisors decide you need it ?

What have they been doing for you?
If you are shy how the hell are you going to get on in an interview?
Scared of asking in person? Surely you have the advisors email address? Drop them an email and say you really need coaching and one on one interview techniques

I don't have much confidence, when it comes to telling people about myself I always feel like they will laugh at what I have to say.
Unfortunately, it sounds like you are stuck in a vicious circle. You don't much confidence to start with, it shows at interviews, you don't get the job and that shakes your confidence even more.
You absolutely need to work on this as otherwise, you can just repeat the same mistakes over and over. Firstly, you need to work on your self confidence. Look at cognitive behaviour therapy on the internet. There are many exercises you can do to help raise your self-esteem, such as kicking out all the negative, 'I can do' thoughts, and only accepts those that say 'I can do', 'I will do', 'I am capable of' etc....
Secondly to this, you need to practice your interviewing skills. Giving a good interview is half about your own confidence, but half just giving what you know they want to hear, how they want to hear it. You need to know what it is you need to focus on, how you need to come across. The more you practice it, the more it will come out naturally, the more you can concentrate on your confidence. For exemple, in group scenario type exercise, most employers are looking for those who put themselves forward with ideas, are managing to get the rest of the group to listen to them and to take them on. You don't want to be the one who takes over and seem to impose their views on the group and doesn't listen to anyone else, but you also don't want to be the one who keeps quiet and agrees with everything other suggest. All this can be learnt with practice. Go to your advisor and ask for interviewing skills training and google these on line too, there is a lot of good advice about things you can practice yourself at home.0
