Transfers from someone else's card...

in Credit cards
Hi all,
I'm doing some research for a friend (really!) and have been trying to find out which of the 0% BT cards allow transfers from another persons card - in this case his wife's.
Also - when applying for a BT card, is there any way of getting a handle on likely credit limits before signing on the dotted line? My friend has a debt he needs to clear, and I'm suggesting that paying it via cc then transferring to a BT card will be the cheapest way in the long run - but the debt is greater than the limit on his only cc, hence the idea of spreading the debt over his and his wife's card... The chicken/egg factor is that if they pay said debt before applying for the BT card then get a limit too low to pay the 2 cards off, they're in a worse position.
Any advice?
Ta!

Please explain how paying the ''debt'' via credit card and then BT it means? What kind of debt is it? Is it likely that the creditor will accept a credit card payment?0

Almost any card will do. Tell "your friend" to do the transfer online; less chance of giving the game away and having an operator query things.
Most times only the 15/16 digit number on the card is required.
Good luck. To "your friend", I mean. Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??

Sanatander explicitly state that only balances in the main cardholder's name can be transferred. Most other cards aren't so fussy. We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
The earth needs us for nothing.
The earth does not belong to us.

Yes it's a debt that can be paid by CC. The interim step is just to enable him to get it transferred to 0% BT deal. He could try the money transfer card route but they're few and far between compared to BT cards, and the higher rate charged equals the charges for payment initially then transfer across.0 -
Get your friend to apply for a card that offers a long purchase deal rather than a balance transfer deal. They can then taylor the payment - if the limit is not enough they should at least be able to transfer a good whack of it.0
