when you find a childminder, she will give you her registration number, you just ring up tax credits with her details, and they will sort it out.

just looked on that surestart website and was suprised to find about 7 childminders in my village!!! do i need to be registered with them before i claim my tax credits?

Yeah they have a registration number allocated from their govenring body (Ofsted etc). You get this number, and Tax credits then do you a new award giving you Tax Credits.

If you explain to the Childminder you will be getting Childcare from the TX.. she may accept you just paying the difference for a couple of weeks. They will backdate 3 mths also.
