55kg luggage on hold possible?

Was wondering whether it would be possible for business flyers to take event equipment to Europe.
We rented out equipment to a client. Not sure how on earth they're going to get it shipped. But that's entirely up to them to organise I suppose.
It will probably be best for them to take it via van and drive there to be honest - but the company is worth 350M and I'm sure money isn't an issue. :rotfl:

Any freight company within the palletways or palletline networks could ship it on a pallet for around £150...0

I have no idea why you have started this thread.
If it's up to them to organise then let them on with it.0 -

i agree with you, just curious as to how it works. I don't like it when we rent equipment out and hardly get any use - I hope they get it into their destination and was wondering whether airlines would allow them to take this baggage in. Airlines do have oversize and overweight fees. But was wondering what the limits were.0 -

thanks, probably not ideal though, very time sensitive.0 -
It depends how it is packed.
About 15 years ago I took a load of kit on two week-long business trips - one to the US and the other to Japan and Thailand.
There was one 23kg bag full of clothes and personal gear, another approx 20kg with handouts, flyers etc and a third trolley bag (10kg?) with a projector (quite big in those days) and laptop plus a bit more paperwork.
This added up to about 53kg in total.
It all went for free on BA Club World, and it fitted onto one airport trolley0 -

that's reassuring, thanks.
Items are packed very well, they're in a 20kg birch plywood flight case. It's pretty resiliant and has 3 wheels built into it so it can glide very easily.
Ultimately I want them to be able to travel with the equipment easily. We've been compensated very well by the client and we'd like to continue working with them in future.
A good hassle free experience means chances of return business is high.
The client is a corporation, and it doesn't feel right to call up and ask about these things. feel a bit nosey.0 -
It sounds like that would fit in an ordinary car. Someone could drive there from London and back in a day, or Paris to London and back, possibly cheaper than return airfares and not much slower than flying with the trips to and from airports, check-in time etc
Or do you mean they then travel to other places with the equipment?0 -

well client is a massive company witth 30-50 offices worldwide. I don't think they're concerned with saving a couple hundred quid on travel. I think they'd prefer to have their staff and equipment get to their destination quicker than cheap out and knacker their staff on 14 hour drives.0 -
Would it not be easier just to check the airline guidance?

that's actually exactly what I did before posting. The information is inconclusive and i think it vary much depends on who you are. In fact BA website said check your boarding pass for your allowances.
I think if you're a frequent flyer or a corporate account they'll probably let you carry a dead body weighing 200kg in your baggage :rotfl:0
