My four or five year old Samsung R580, core i3 has crawled to a near halt (particularly around windows updates) so I'm following closed's clean up guide. I know there will be a lot of guff in the HJT log...
I'm scared of losing irreplaceable photos etc. so doing it the hard way until I can back up everything.

Why not back up everything first and then do it the easy way?

You should ALWAYS have backups of anything you dont want to lose.
All our family photo's are now duplicated across several computers and on different hard drive within that computer.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
