If anyone could shed some light on my 2 questions I would be grateful
1 If I ask the tax office for all my P60s dating 2000 - 2010, will they give me copies?
Also:
2 If I walk into a tax office and asked for them to clarify my past records, would they do so?
thanks

P60`s are items that are produced ONCE only , and you are advised to keep each P60 for at least two years after that tax year has ended.
You will NOT be issued with duplicates but you can ask for written proof of your earnings for each of the tax years in question.
Such a request should be made by you as they are your records.0 -

Funny how HMRC can manage to find files and documents going back many years, when it suits them, but amazingly, they've not been kept when it's some information the taxpayer wants!0 -
Strange that. Also strange is how they can find all sorts of silly "security checks" to hold up tax due back to taxpayers, but expect taxpayers to move at 100mph to pay them otherwise the heavies start to appear on the scene.
They've managed to lose PAYE payments made by two separate clients, each for over £2,000. The onus is on us to send HMRC copy bank details to show them we made the payments. The last one I had like this, the guy did a search in their records for the exact amount we paid and found it allocated to "suspense", that guy must have been on a training course at some stage.
