Hi I finished paying off my iva in feb after 6 long years and I am still waiting for completion certificate. I have contacted them and they say it will take 6 months, this has now passed. I keep ringing and get no phone call back. I have no letters apart from them waiting me to allow them to claim ppi. I refused and signed to say I will not make any poi claims. I don't have any anyway. What can I do. I cannot move on until I get this completion certificate. Can I complain to someone? Thanks

If you do not sign their documents your completion is likely to be held up even further, I am assuming you are with GT?
To speed things up and get your completion, why not just sign their forms if you don't think you have any PPI??0 -
Hello there.
Do you still show on the insolvency register? It could be worth checking to see if you've been removed now that you're at the end of the term:

If you do wish to raise a complaint you can find some useful information here:

Thank for the advice iva still showing on local insolvency register started jan 2006. I signed a form from grant Thornton go say that I will not ever make a claim against my creditors for ppi.0 -
bluecatblue,
I echo the advice above - if you fail to co-operate, GT will not complete your IVA.
IP's have the right (like it or not), to investigate potential PPI claims. You have 2 choices: Attempt to reclaim PPI yourself (may be a waste of time, but it is amazing how many people have found out they DO actually have some, when they thought they never took any out); or Let GT/EIC do all the donkey-work for you.
Then it is a case of join the queue as far as the completion paperwork goes (or nag GT constantly/formally complain). I have heard of frustrated GT customers reporting that despite finishing their IVA 2-Years ago, they are still waiting.
Absolutely shocking service in my opinion, and I think all affected GT customers should be complaining to their regulators.
Hope you get this sorted out soon, and well done for completing your IVA.0 -
Thank you for your advice. I will keep on at grant Thornton. I also have the details now of complaints commission, that's to this site.0

It took 11.5 months for my completion certificate to come through for GT, also after a six-year IVA. They didn't even send the PPI claim letter to me until five months after my last payment.
I emailed monthly (at least) to the closures team. They did always reply, albeit it could take up to ten days for that to happen.
I agree that they wont/don't complete until you sign their forms, but as you say, you've signed the one reneging any future PPI claim so that should surely be enough.
Keep badgering them. I stayed on the Insolvency Register until the month after I had the completion certificate (all four lines of it). I ended up having to send a copy of it to the Insolvency Register people as it wasn't updating, but I disappeared within two days after that.
