Exactly the same situation here - and it really frustrates me as I know that we're not alone and it's sadly stopping a lot of dogs being rehomed
I don't know what the answer is - I guess years ago people didn't have insurance and if something horrible happened, then that was it for the poor pet
(which is why I would at a min have accident / injury insurance) - BUT - I do think some of the things people put their pets through are too far and in many cases it would be kinder to say goodbye .... and they're the things that are partly responsible for the huge hikes in premiums Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250
£1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000

Yep the fact that vets as a 'business' are about making profits, often there seems no end to what can be done, and it isn't always best, .. but then there is the guilt as well.0 -
Household insurance normally covers your dog for third party claims.0

One of the routes I've thought about if we get another pet is to join a credit union, put in a regular amount per month and even if it's not enough to cover any vets bills I will have access to a low cost loan with them, might be worth a thought.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0
