My mum has told me i need to move out immediately, so im staying with a friend. Im aware i can claim HB but dont have the first months rent and deposit! I need this in order to move into a shared house and then claim, but is there any way they can fund both of these in order for me to do so??

1 months rent deposit? is it for a private landlord?
have you contacted your local council local housing associations and told them you are being asked to leave and are being made homeless?0 -

Where was six months mentioned?
OP, if you contact your local authority they may have a deposit guarantee scheme. They vary between areas but your LA will be able to tell you what they offer.
If you are single and not disabled it is unlikely the LA will be able to offer you accommodation, unless you want a hostel.0 -
there MAY be a deposit guarantee scheme in your area, there may not.
important thing is to get to the council and register yourself as homeless ASAP.
if you have no luck with the deposit scheme, they may offer you a hostel or BnB as a stop gap until you can sort something else.0 -
just noticed from your previous posts you were previously bankrupt. do you have a guarantor for your proposed tenancy? you'll most likely need one too if you're claiming LHA0

Thats got nothing to do with anything. Ive just ran out of work and signed on today, and also have to move out asap so what do you mean i need a guarantor for my living allowance ?0

Many landlords dont like people on LHA, and ask someone to guarantee the rent will be paid, aka someone who can afford the rent on top of their own commitments.
Being bankrupt before will add to those concerns and may prevent you from renting privately entirely without an appropriate guarantor.0 -
Most private landlords that advertise on spareroom and gumtree etc, dont usually do a credit check and i only should need a reference from previous landlord. Bankruptcy should have nothing to do with it unless im wanting to rent through an agency but im just wanting a room in a shared house0

I'm glad you have all the answers!
You need to also bear in mind that rent is paid monthly in advance and LHA is paid monthly in arrears.0 -
The credit checks and insistence on guarantors is less to do with protecting the landlord's interests and more to do with the fact it is one of the letting agent's primary sources of income, so it's in THEIR interest to sell the need for them to their principal client, the landlord. The fees charged for credit checks and guarantors are so in excess of the actual cost that they make payday loan companies seem like charities.Trouble is, alot of landlords are buy to let amateurs who believe whatever the agent tells them.
I'm an ex-bankrupt but NEVER once was I even late with my rent. And although through LHA I have to top up my rent by £220 a month I possibly have more disposable income despite being on benefits than many have in employment...and our benefits are guaranteed. But most agents would tell you I'm a worse risk than someone with a squeaky clean credit record but who is persistently late with their rent (which doesn't show on your credit file).
Try dealing with a landlord direct and cut out the agents until they start acting with more honesty.0
