Default not showing up...yet?

Hi I defaulted on a Halifax current account. Nearly paid it off via a debt collection agency. Thing is, it's not showing up on my credit file? Any ideas why that might be? Will it show up once I've settled the account? My credit score is good apart from this and I'm worried that's about to change?
Many thanks in advance for any advice you might have...

How recently did you default?
Have you checked all 3 agencies?
Does the account on your file but not show as default, or does it not appear at all?
How long ago was the account originally taken out (many years ago banks did not always obtain permission to share data with the CRAs for current accounts).A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
