Grey stripe down screen.

Can anyone tell me what would cause a one inch grey stripe down my screen if the background is blue it will show as purple. Thanks in advance.

Hardware failure is most likely cause for this I am afraid. Is it a standard CRT monitor or is it a flat screen TFT?

Hi it's an Acer laptop. So is it dying?

sounds like the monitor is faulty to me, you maybe able to get it replaced at acer if you contact them, but it maybe cheaper just to buy a new laptop.

Thanks for your reply. I will probably look for a reasonable priced new laptop, not that I know what to look for.
