I can't see it being a virus since from your comments you are apparently expecting a delivery ... I see it's USPS so presumably from the USA?

USPS usually use other couriers once the goods get to the UK. I expect the 'storage' charge is buried in the small print somewhere.

Best bet is to contact the UK courier, confirm your address correcting any postcode inaccuracies, and ask them to arrange an alternative delivery date when you can be in to receive it.

  • Thanks that's a relief - have ordered a few things that haven't come - had a heart attack when I saw that in my spam folder but it did smell a bit fishy to me.

    Thanks for all your help

    Copied from the ebay pages...

The USPS is a well known and recognised USA mail carrier with a good reputation. When however, you use USPS to ship items outside of the USA, they then use local mail carriers to delivery to the final destination. In the case of shipping to the United Kingdom, USPS for some unknown reason have chosen to use Parcel Force to deliver to the final destination. There are however some problems with this...

    1. Parcel Force will charge you £13 ($23) just to clear your item through customs, and that charge is passed on to the receipient, and not included in the USPS shipping charge.
    2. Despite Charging you the £13 ($23) to clear your goods, Parcel Force have no interest in or accept any liability for failure to clear your item, or to clear it correctly.
    3. They tell you about this charge by eventually sending out a standard INVOICE to your delivery address asking you to pay the value BEFORE they will deliver your item.

So if your expecting a parcel from the US its probably not spam..

It IS spam. look at the grammar:
"You can find the information about the procedure and conditions of parcels keeping in the nearest office."

    Other clues:
Did the email have your name in it, or was it just generic? Generic = SPAM.
If the goods you have ordered are not coming from the US, then it's SPAM.
Go onto the USPS website - if that is definitely the courier that your goods are being shipped using, and enter the number given on the email. Do not go to the website using links in the email.
Contact the supplier (if they are in the US) and ask them for the tracking number.
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

Definitely virus - my Sister fell for the same type.... if they had actually tried to deliver the item then you would have had the attempted delivery slip put through to use as Proof when collecting..

They wouldn't just email you in the first instance..

It is clearly spam and nothing to do with Customs clearance.

The 'low tech' version of this is a card shoved through your letterbox asking you to phone them about a missed courier delivery.
The number is of course a premium rate number.

The Spam email says "post office" - what's that? Not the Post Office.

If they weren't able to deliver a parcel to the address, how are they going to send any request for payment?
