Maternity leave and redundancy - they want me to take garden leave instead.

Options
I asked for voluntary redundancy and was accepted. Been able to attend meetings for this process (as KIT days, they made allowances as no children on site so met in hotel) but cannot make the last one. I'm out of the country. They changed the final day from the 15th to 18th so I could have made it tomorrow but not 18th.

I have now had a call saying as you can't make it we'll put you on garden leave, paid as normal.
Except I'm on stat mat pay until 11th dec. this will look like I've gone back early, I'll miss out on £500 of stat pay and pay tax on my garden leave.
Any advice?
I've been there less than 2years so it was a months pay in lieu of notice.

18th. we are being tupe'd over to an agency (everyone who applied for available jobs is also tupe'd)
I've had 3 meetings at the 2nd I asked for a breakdown of accrued holiday and mat pay due. It's signed on the form but I haven't received it yet.
