Chrome - search google for

One feature I often use in Chrome is highlighting text and selecting the right click option "search google for"...

What I find strange is the resulting search...

Why is the search key repeated 3 times? Copy/paste to notepad only gives it once.
I've tried a cursory search and don't see this mentioned elsewhere so I'm wondering if it's only me that gets it - maybe because of one of my plugins.
The search still works and this is more of a curiosity to me than a problem.

Just tried it on some of your text and it only appears once in my google search box0

Thank for trying it. I checked with text from this page and it still triplicates it. I think it does on any page.
As an aside I tried searching again a minute or so after making the post and my question already appears in teh google results - that was incredibly fast. I expect the goons at the NSA are forensically testing it all for secret communications as I type0 -
Possible solution.
Settings
Click "Edit search engines". Change your default search engine to something else, e.g. Bing or Yahoo. Whatever you want. Now delete all the Google entries in the "Default search settings" box.
Now, scroll down a little until you see a box with "Add a new search engine". Write down Google and google.com in the first two boxes respectively and in the URL box copy and paste this URL:
Without the quotes. Now mark it as the default search engine.

Thanks - that has sorted it!
I had zero faith in it doing so when I started.
I guess if I'd been using the browser search box I might have spotted the problem (corrupt url in the search definition) but I never use that as I have a homebrew way of storing bookmarks and do my searches from the page I use for that.0
