OK, so not the most brilliant of thread titles, but here goes.....

When I'm reply to an email on the GMail webclient, any emails below it are indented and have a | marker (sometmes a lot of them) to show the original content.
Is it possible to turn it off (I can't see anything in options)?
If it is, what does it come under?

Not sure if it's what you want but if you set

    General/Conversation view on

then original and replies get grouped together and although the indented original text is still there and can be viewed it gets hidden by default and you have to click a button to see it.

Thanks for that, but it's not quite what I wanted.
I want to get rid of all the indenting altogether (so it looks a bit like an Outlook <shudder> email trail).

    Hi rmg1

There is a workaround which achieves what you want...

    1) Click on 'Forward' button (instead of 'Reply')
    2) Start typing your reply
    3) Change from "Forward' to 'Reply'

Step 2 is important - you must type some text in the email before doing Step 3

This process will prevent a new indent and vertical bar being added - but it won't remove any historic indents or v bars.

So if you want complete threads without indents or v bars, everyone replying to the thread will have to use the same workaround.

    I hope that makes sense!
