Wisdom needed for new car please
I am looking for a used car with a £6500 budget. Currently I drive approx 30miles daily in a town, I rarely use the motorway.
I have looked at seat ibizas and vw polos, as well as fiestas and corsas. I do need 5 doors and would look at 1.2-1.4 engines. Am I being unrealistic in my search for an ibiza or a polo on my budget? What mileage would be acceptable?
As you can see I'm quite clueless about cars, therefore I would appreciate any opinions/words of wisdom. Thanks

If your looking for a new one then yes your unrealistic, But those cars have been made for many years.
You can pick them up for less than £100 if they need a bit of work. Couple of hundred for tidy ones.

With a £6500 budget you could get an 08 or 58 plate toyota prius, that would suit 30miles of town driving.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Go to a Renault dealer that also sells the Dacia brand - the Sandero model can be had new for £6k for the base model and around £6.5k for the next one up. Or look for a Chevrolet Spark which will be around £6.8k for a 2012 1.2.
Go onto the Honest John website for reviews etc.0 -
A dealer near me is selling ex demo hyundai i10's for around the 7 k mark - might be worth looking near you.
Hyundais see to get good reviews, the i10 has a 5 door version and 1.2. the basic model has a good spec (I was looking at them but went for a Seat Mii instead)
They've got a handful of miles on the clock but might be worth looking at as they are close to your budget and still new with a good 5 year warrantyEmergency savings: 4600

Sorry, I mean a new car to me
.
Hyundai i10 is a tad small, was thinking of something slightly bigger. I assume from replies that the cars I have looked at are not particularly good choices?0 -

That's why I made my suggestions above.
The Panda is a very similar size to the i10, so also too small.;)0 -
Why not spend £5k on a car and the rest on a holiday!!
5k will buy you a very good second hand car.0 -
Panda would be great but as it is mostly town driving then I would seriously look at the Toyota Prius as well as facade as mentioned, £6.5k is more than enough for a decent one such as-
