I am hoping someone can offer some help if they have already been through a similar situation. We are just about due to complete on a repossessed house, hopefully within the next week to 10 days. I have found out the suppliers to the property today which are npower for elec and british gas for the gas supply. I am just looking at trying to sort out a fix straight away before all the good deals vanish and we are stuck with high prices, my main concern is the gas as british gas seem not to have any decent deals . The house has been powered down and drained and stickers put across everything not to use, as far as I am aware they aren't actually cut off, just turned off. Does anyone know if I have to connect with the previous supplier in the first intance and then apply to switch to where I find a better deal ? Or can I ask any new supplier to connect/ resupply us straight away? I am concerned that if we have to get an account and then switch, we may have missed the deals boat so to speak. Any help would be great, thank you very much.

Hi, yes , you have to sign up with the existing supplier first.
You cannot switch if you have nothing to switch from....if that makes any sense.
If you register with the new supplier on the day you move in and initiate a switch the same day you will be able to take advantage of whatever offers are still available then.0 -
Thank you very much Keith for the quick answer and guidance, it very kind of you. I will be onto it the moment I get my feet through the door.0
