Cycle Lane Use

Most 'cycle lanes' are no such thing anyway. Anything that drivers can drive or park in is not a cycle lane. A 'shared use' path is not a cycle lane either (hence the name). It's only numbers.0

So you would force the overtaking cyclist into faster moving traffic or to wait behind, not because you would have to stop, not because you would have to slow down, but because you might have to stop talking to your mate for 10 seconds!
It might not be illegal but , truely, it is ignorance of an olympic standard.
If you were driving a car, would you be bullied into moving over every time a faster car behind you wanted to pass?0 -
A ring of the bell is not "GET OUT OF MY WAY SCUM" but "Can I come past please" and the reasonable response, especially when it is of little incovenience, is "yes of course"
If you apply the same ruling as for car horns, I believe (without looking at a Highway Code right now) that sounding a horn has one meaning and that is to alert other users to your presence.
It may imply you want to pass by alerting someone to your approach but it doesn't confer any right or oblige that person to pull over.0 -
There's no rule against riding two abreast - afaik. Maybe not advisable in some circumstances but (again afaik, right now, without any reference/legal counsel) not illegal.
If it's a pure cycle lane then I'd think it makes no difference unless it's contraflow - in which case common sense & courtesy would apply.
If it's shared pedestrian, again, common sense & courtesy would apply.
If it's a shared bus/cycle/taxi lane it's maybe less advisable but probably still makes no difference as nobody would be able to pass safely if you were a solo - based on the provision's we have here.0
