Hi all,
I don't know if this is the right place to ask this but can anyone tell me if I get my club card points twice by paying with my Tesco credit card. Once when I do my online shop (paying with my Tesco CC) and then do I get points again when I pay my credit card bill off each month ?
If I don't I think I prefer to just have the money taken out of my bank each week so I can more easily see whats what with my spending.
Thanks

No, you only get points when using the card to pay.0 -
Oh so I was thinking wrong then, I thought I got points again when I paid off my card.
Thanks for that0 -
You get two lots of points at the same time:
So on a typical £60 shop, you'd could get 75 points (instead of the 60 points you'd get with a normal club card), as you'd get an extra point for every £4 you spend.0 -

Oh ok, so I do benefit, thanks for that. My brain doesn't seem to be working these days0 -
As zerog said in response to your initial question, you only earn tesco points when you purchase something. You do not earn any points for paying off the amount you owe on your card.
Grommitt explains the number of points you earn (as if you didn't know), so yes you benefit, but not by very much. Tesco effectively pay 0.25% cashback for using their credit card i.e. 1 point worth 1p normally for every £4 you spend - you can get the other 1 point for every £1 you spend with a clubcard.
So you'd benefit even more if you used a cashback credit card as recommened by multi-millionaire, Dr Lewis.
There's one that even pays 4% cashback on supermarket purchases - a whopping 16x more than Tesco (and you could still get your normal 1 point per £1 by using a clubcard)
Note that with that specific card, the cashback is only available online from Tesco using their groceries website, and not for example, Tesco Direct.
But there are other cashback cards that can be used everywhere that still offer more than Tesco in terms of cashback/rewards.0 -
zerog is right. i have a Tesco card with a BT deal on it at the moment. used to use a Tesco card for spending at Tesco, but Amex Cashback + Clubcard Points (normal ones) worked out to be a better deal, and obviously more flexible.0

as far as i know, no cards pay any points for paying back your balance, it's just the spending itself that generates points/rewards/cashback0
