OP has paid off the credit card all thats outstanding is £790 which she is trying to pay.
Think cookie was saying that HSBC were being spiteful closing a card with a zero balance as she's lodged a claim for charges. nothing to do with who owes who money. think she was pointing out the irony of their actions.
Sorry, just feel that the couple of posts have been a little blunt. maybe it's just the fact that it's late at night!!

Thanks pania I got lost with the OP. Yes it is petty to shut an account for claiming back charges.

Just think they saved you a stamp in a way now you don't have to write to ask to close the cc account which is just what you would have done with a true balance transfer!

Thanks All, Especially Pania, Think Pania Knows What I Was Getting At!! Yes I Know Its Right What They Done But I Was Just Letting Off A Bit Of Steam, Apologises, I Will Leave Threads Open For People Who Need Advice. Ok For Folk To Be Blunt, But Usually We All Know Exactly What We Should Have Done, Should Not Have Done, But When You Stuck In Corner You Sometimes Need A Ear. Cheers All.keep Up Good Work, Thanks Again Pania. Take Care.

cookiewillow i may speak out of turn here but think almac is trying to wind you up, You weren't treating your bank as a charity at all, everyone shuffles their cards. the only person who can answer why they closed the account is the bank. We've already covered the od situation in your other thread if Almac has read that to. I also don't think you were ever saying that it IS the reason they've closed it. I may get in trouble for defending you, just don't like seeing people jumped on.
(absolutely no offence meant almac, think the op's original thread may explain a little more about the scenario that occured.:-) )

  • hi pania, thanks, and i mean that, lucky im not easily wound up!! bit concerned though that other peolple would be very hurt with what alamc said and not log on again!! the post above was meant as a sacarstic take off of mastercard advert anyway. even if i wasnt in debt at all, i would never dream of "telling someone off" for using bank as charity! unless you have been in a position with no money in your purse, every avenue exhausted, two children to feed, you WILL use your overdraft, i dont care WHO you are. feel free almac to tell me off again, but be careful with more vunerable people who are close to breaking point, and are very depressed with their debts. blunt is fine, we all sometimes need to told straight, but choose words carefully
