It is for controlling inflation. The target is 2%. It is almost on track. It has come down a lot. This suggests an increase is unlikely. If the current trend keeps up it will fall below 2%, what happens then, interest rates drop?
No way will rates go lower than this. There would have to be another big finacial crisis.0 -
I don't think they will either. Inflation is under control for now. If the economy does start ramping up and salaries starting rising then an interest rate rise could be on the cards.
