European banks have shed around 3 trillion euros of assets in the past year. So credit creation is slowing. The UK may yet suffer the same fate. As banks are some way from achieving their capital solvency levels. Not helped by a lack of profitability as their 3rd quarter reporting results showed.
Of course deflation is beneficial to savers rather than borrowers. As debt no longer erodes effortlessly away.
All part of the rebalancing of the economy.
Nasty savers should be punished. The whole crash is their fault.0 -

Anyone else think the employment figures are all smoke and mirrors.
The highest level of part time workers since records began.
A third of men and a quarter of women saying they took a part time job because they couldn't find full time work.
2 people doing half a job each is still only one full time role being supported by the economy.
Thats not employers showing growth, its the splitting of jobs to save on employers contributions etc. Plus most part time work is NMW. Doesn't seem like much to celebrate to me. Maybe its a nice headline to try to con the masses into a big blowout at Christmas as they must know how many are cutting back this year.

.....The highest level of part time workers since records began.
Actually, no. The highest level of part time workers was recorded in Jun-Aug and Jul-Sept 2010....Thats not employers showing growth, its the splitting of jobs to save on employers contributions etc. ...
Once again, you'd be wrong. As the ONS explain "The rise in the number of people in employment on the quarter has been largely driven by an increase in full time workers."0 -

I'm glad you finally get it.
Or as the independent BBC put itA third of men and a quarter of women saying they took a part time job because they couldn't find full time work.
which makes it sound like something completely different. Also noticable that it is a minor story on the news website home page whereas when unemployment increased it was front page news for days...Almost a third of working men are in part-time employment because they cannot find a full-time job, compared with 13% of women.
BoE model now says a 40% chance of unemployment below 7% by the end of 2014 two years earlier than when they announced the policy of forward guidance.Rate rise ANYONE:beer:I think....0 -

There's a 100% probability of it raining in the next 365 days. Let's wait for the next quarterly update before concerning ourselves too much.0
