Panasonic Cordless Phone Problem KT-TG6621EB

I have posted on another thread about this but cannot find it.
I have now contacted Panasonic about the problem I am having with my cordless phone - ringing tone continuous without a break and cannot be changed. They suggested checking the voltage on the line (BT have just connected us and the line was checked at the time), check the DSL filter so I tried disconnecting from the current DSL Filter and plugging directly into the incoming BT phone socket and rang the line (no change)and the only other thing they suggested was switching off the phone for over an hour and try resetting it which I have now done for a second time (first time nothing changed), but nothing seems to work.
Anyone got any other suggestions or had this problem themselves ?

After speaking with Panasonic and doing checks with them to no avail, I have finally given up and contacted the BT chat line. They asked me to carry out various checks with both my corded and cordless phones, plugging them into the main BT test socket coming into the house and it turns out the same problem exists with both phones and from the main test socket, so BT are having to send an engineer out.
We moved here 3 weeks ago and waited 13 days to get the phone line on. When the sub-contracted engineer came out to put the line on he checked the line and said it was working fine but when he contacted BT to connect the line at the exchange, the main engineer wanted to change the external wiring coming into the house (no excuse given). He said they would have to send a cherry picker to put it on the drive because the wiring was routed over our car port and their engineer would have difficulty in reaching the wiring and replacing it. They said the cherry picker could damage the tarmaced drive for which they would not be held responsible for repairs, so we refused on the basis that the line was working perfectly well and the engineer said it seemed fine. So they left it at that. It now appears that if it is found that any of the wiring has been damaged due to building work (which there has been none for years by the looks of it, the carport looks like it has been there for many years and I presume the 95 yr old lady who lived here and was in contact with her son some 100 miles away) was using the phone until she left 12 months ago. So I am presuming the phone line was OK up to that point. I have told BT this, so they said it is probably their network wiring that is at fault. Otherwise we will have to pay £129.99 if it turns out to be our fault due to our equipment or wiring inside the house, which seems impossible considering the main socket into the house is producing the same results.
An engineer is coming on Friday, fingers crossed he will be able to sort it.
I only recounted the circumstances above in the hopes that anyone with similar problems, the info may come in useful to outline what has happened here for their benefit. I will post the outcome after Friday.

Take your phone to someone else's house and test it out! If it doesn't work properly it will be cheaper to buy a new one (than £129.99 fine to BT for wasting their time!)0

As I explained, it is happening on both a corded and uncorded phone so unlikely to be a single phone problem. Panasonic suggested we check with the phone company that the voltage on the phone line was correct, so this could be the problem I suppose. Either way if it is happening with two separate phones, corded and uncorded on the main incoming test socket, I am hoping that the problem is the phone line rather than our equipment.0 -

As promised I have come back to update those who have commented on my little problem. Openreach arrived today and tested the incoming mains socket with his own phone and the problem was still there. He replaced part of the incoming wire which he said was perishing but this made no difference, so he went off to check the wiring at the telephone pole, came back to say the problem must be at the exchange. Off he went and an hour later the phone rang (normally I am glad to say
) and he told me that the problem was indeed at the telephone exchange.
All is now well, but it just goes to prove that sometimes things are not as they may seem and it always pays to check when all the other tests inside the property have been done. He did say that very often the previous owners do not have a problem as they may be using different equipment or using a different service so it is not just a case that the line suddenly went wrong.
I am a happy bunny finally and hubby doesn't jump out of his skin and threaten to throw the phone out of the window anymore when it rings !
