NO POPLA Verification Code

Hi Can anyone help, I recently had an unsuccessful appeal and on the letter it stated I could appeal to POPLA "on the form provided" however no form was provided or POPLA verification code to appeal online. I have now emailed the ticket issuer twice and also emailed POPLA and the BPA , POPLA got back to say they could not issue verification codes and the BPA have not responded as yet, I am concerned that my 28 day appeal slot is now running out but this is due to the company not following their own guidelines and not my fault, any advice would be appreciated. Many Thanks Steve

Which PPC is this? - Have you checked the letter carefully as sometimes the POPLA verification code (which is what you need) is incorporated within the letter on the bottom of rejection letter.

Not issuing a POPLA code is a serious breach in the BPA COP and even though you have contacted the BPA - a formal complaint needs to be made
(address on Newbie thread: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4816822 - near end).

The PPC need to issue the code as POPLA cannot.

Write another letter to the PPC requesting the code and stating this breaches their code of practice and a complaint will be made to the BPA. Send by both email and post - get a certificate of posting (free).

You have already protected yourself by informing POPLA and getting a reply back. Keep this communication safe.

When your POPLA code eventually arrives send these in to explain why you are 'late'

  • It might be worth checking that PPC repeal rejection letter for any sort of reference number - I believe some PPCs have been known to try and bury it in the text.

This Parking Prankster blog post explains how the 10-digit POPLA code is derived - http://parking-prankster.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/what-does-my-popla-code-mean.html

Thanks all for your advice, I have rechecked the letter again and there are no hidden codes just the original PCN number which is only 9 digits.

I will send another email and also post a letter and see what comes back

The codes are time linked so you couldn't use an expired code when appealing online. You could use good old paper and snail mail but I suspect POPLA wouldn't even check what you had written if the POPLA code had expired.

Have you complained to the retailer/service provider yet? You really need to read the sticky threads in the forum to answer most of your points
When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.
