Just in case anyone is interested…

Terms and Conditions on National Express funfare tickets will change as of tomorrow. (Pending software upgrade tonight)
  • No refunds available.
  • No further discounts permitted.
  • Cannot be used for travel to/from an airport.
  • Customers can get off the coach at a location earlier than the one on their ticket (with the exception of airports which are not available on this type of ticket), providing customers tell the driver when they get on and prior to the driver putting their luggage in the hold.
  • The ticket guarantees the customer their seat from the location shown on their ticket only. If they wish to board at a later point (with the exception of airports which are not available on this type of ticket), travel will be permitted as long as there are still seats available but will not be guaranteed.
  • Customers must travel on the timed journey they are booked on; for travel at another time customers will need to amend their ticket (by calling the National Express Contact Centre or visiting a National Express ticket office) before the departure time shown on their ticket.
  • When making amendments as noted above, the ticket is upgraded to a new fare category so the difference between the two fares (excess fare) will be charged and an amendment fee will apply too.
  • These tickets are valid on a limited allocation basis and only sold through the website www.nationalexpress.com.
  • Tickets must be printed as an e-Ticket or received as an m-Ticket.
  • If a funfare has been purchased for one or more legs of the journey, the whole ticket is classed as a funfare ticket.
I’ve highlighted the changed bit…

But it basically boils down to the fact that the tickets can now be amended BUT only before the time you are booked – so basically no dice if you miss the coach.

Thing to remember; the ticket will be subject to the difference in fares PLUS the standard three pound amendment fee. So if you only paid a quid to start with its cheaper to scrap the ticket and buy a new one.

The tickets can only be amended over the phone or at NEL offices.
