Got myself a new laptop which I am happy with which runs windows 8.
I keep being asked to upgrade to windows 8.1 - is there any point and what will it do differently??

If you like W8, 8.1 improves on it. If you hate W8, it won't change enough to make you like it.
It gives you a start button back, though it doesn't function like the old button, it launches the start screen. You can set the same wallpaper on the start screen as the desktop has. You can boot straight to desktop and bypass the start screen. You can resize tiles on the start screen. Loads of small things that improve on W8.
Of course if you hate W8 you'll hate 8.1.0 -
Add Stardock Start8 and it is a damn good OS.0

If you update, you'll get the full cycle of support, whereas if you stay on 8.0 support will end in around 2 years.0
