    I've been Money Tipped!
I have just bought the Philips one from Amazon. Have used it twice so far in first week, lovely ice cream but down side is the having to wait for the bowl to freeze. Probably just as well in this house as oh and I really should be dieting :o

Sainsbury's Magazine did a Tried and Tested survey of icecream makers in the current issue. Starting from the top the winners were:

    Magimix Gelato Chef 2200
    Magimix Le Glacier 1.5
    Panasonic BH 941P
    Gaggia Gelatiera
    Kenwood IM200 series

    Hope that helps someone.

I've been trying not to buy an ice cream maker, too many gadgets already! Recently I've tried a new recipe - it's basically cream (various combinations but not all single) whipped until it makes soft peaks, then caster sugar and whatever flavouring you like are folded in. I did coconut but obviously used too much (although it was what the recipe specified); and another one with swirls of lemon curd which is sublime.

The big advantage of this recipe is that it doesn't require, in fact, will not work, if you stir it while it freezes, because it's the water in other recipes (eggs or sugar syrup) that causes big crystals and this is pure cream. The big disadvantage of this recipe is that it's pure cream :o

Still delicious and all natural though, just like its maker. ;)

If anyone's interested I will look up the quantities.

Yes please, we make our own lemon curd and this recipe would be useful. Would have to limit the making of it though ... can feel the waistline expanding!

I posted an orange icecream recipe and a chocolate ice cream recipe a few weeks ago (it might be in the idex  ) The orange one only required cream as the base and was GORGE - US ;)

Yes they are in the Old Style Recipe Index. Listed under "sweets".

I can vouch for the yumminess of the orange one - haven't tried the other one yet!
