Anyone done this job??

Hi all, i don't know if this is the right forum for the post... but here goes.
I've been looking for work at home jobs because i'm 8 months pregnant and for some reason nobody wants to take me on lol
Anyway, in my local paper there was an advertisement for people to fill envelopes at home. The basic idea is:
>You send a SAE envelope to a company for info, which they send back.
>You then read T&C and send £25, (apparantly to cover them so that if they send u the goods you can't then say i can't be arsed), which will be sent back after you have filled 60 envelopes.
>They send you a box of already named/addressed envelopes and a box of whatever they want to be stuffed into them.
>You fill as many envelopes as you want (well you have to fill 60 within a month to get your £25 back) and send them off.
>The company then send you a cheque within 7 days to cover the amount you have sent plus they reimburse all of the P&P.
Once you have done your first 60 within a month, there is no limit to how much/little you do.
Anyway, Has anyone on here actually done this job or is it a scam?
Thankyou all in advance and again sorry if its on the wrong forum

Personally I would stay well clear of this. Any employment where YOU have to PAY sounds dodgy. :eek:0

Can't say for sure that this is a scam.....but many people, especially elderly people have been conned by similar adverts in the past that have been scams.
I recall that BBC Watchdog ran an article on this a while back, and came across this, I think that it would be better to steer clear.
Congrats BTW....in a month or so, you aren't going to have any spare hands to fill envelopes anyhow lol!
If you are looking for work after your baby comes, then maybe looking for something local and part time even for just a couple of hours a week would bring in more money than potentailly stuffing hundred of envelopes? Your local paper is a good place to look, but you can also try your job centre."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -

I cant agree enough with this, I'm sure there are companies that are genuine that have home workers, but please, please dont send money to them, with the new baby due soon, you need it more now than ever.
Try not to worry and enjoy the last weeks of pregnancy, you need to be getting as much rest as ya can now.

Complete scam!!!
If the ad was titled something like 'Earn money addressing envelopes or filling enveloppes' it's a classic. Goes as follows, if you send off the £25 they send you a bit of paper that says that what you do is place an aDVERT IN SHOP WINDOWS same as theirs and then charge people £25 to send them the a copy of the bit of paper you are holding. An alternative is that they say the will pay you xxx per 100 envelopes that you get p[eoples names and £25 cheques on.
I haven't explained it very well, but trust me it's a scam.
Firms that want 'envelopes stuffing', use either a machine (I have one of these and it'll do about 2000 per hour), or if it's awkward or promo items, they outsource to a 'specialist' firm(cynics would say - some bloke with a big shed and a load of people working for peanuts).
If you want to test the idea, ask the firm for the telephone numbers of say 10 satisifed workers. If the scammers are savvy they will say can't do that because of Data Protection, in which case you say 'Can you give my number to them and ask them if they would like to ring me'. Even if you got a call, I'd be wary as they could be asking their mates to do it, so offer to call the person back and get their location (from the STD code). Probably close to the scammer.
It ain't worth the hassle. Instead report them to your local TSO.
These scammers prey on the most 'vulnerable' victims, ie people who are housebound, can't get/maintain a 'standard type of job', those looking to make a 'few extra pounds to supplement my benefits' (right or wrong it happens), and the stay at home moms/dads.0 -

About 25 years ago actually did this job for catalogue ads! It was for a local company that did (and still does) compiles junk mail with sticky bits, flyers etc. Whilst I don't doubt that machines do it now, it was all by hand in the past. They paid us though about 50p per hundred if I remember rightly.0

Does not the colleges have notice boards that you could advertise on.
Write up an advert and then at the bottom put your contact details on vertically along the bottom. How ever many you can fit and then cut them so people can rip them off. If that makes any sense at all.
That is what I have seen down on many boards around colleges and uni's.
