Small claims court action
Comments

What is the big problem with sleeping in a living room for a few days?
Doesn't sound that terrible.
First world problems I guess.
Just been looking at the Phillipines.0 -
BTW - the court fees would NOT be anywhere near £400. Up to £35 filing fee, then £25 hearing fee. (For a claim up to £300).

Personally I think you are just looking for a hand out and being spiteful, mainly because I cant see why you slept in the living room, wouldn't it have been easier to sleep in the empty room.
You knew there was a delay so why cram yourself into the living room when you have an empty bedroom.
The small claims court don't deal in inconvenience, only actual losses you can prove.
Spiteful??
You must be a real pushover if you think wanting some recompense for significant inconvenience is spite.
You're also making rather a large assumption that the contractors left the room habitable after removing the old fitments.0 -

Significant inconvience?? What having to spend a couple of extra nights on their sofa in their home!
I too must be a pushover because i would accept these things happen and move on and not expect comp for lack of apology or a few days of camping in the living room.0 -
In response , the bedrooms they were working on were like a building site for the time it took to complete the job, There was plastering going on which made the room uninhabitable, the space in the small living room in which we were sleeping was fully taken up with bed, clothes racks furniture etc, if this company had simply said they had messed up, sorted out an agreed action and sent a bunch of flowers to the wife then we would have been 'satisfied'
It is their arrogance in taking the money and then leaving a mess for two weeks that is the problem!!!!! and no apology0
