Hi there I have at the moment got a pair of Panasonic TCD820's which we use as a land line. I want to use the phones as both if thats possible. I was thinking of the Pap2 device (unlocked) but need to know is this enough to cover my hardware requirements.
At the moment we pay V media £20 per month for the "bundle of 200 mins anytime" but i want this eventually to be "free" as in just the basic phone chucked in with my existing 20meg BB. We also have TV from them so im sure i could "loose" the £20 that goes on the phone easily.
With reference to the above would a pap2 be enough for my needs ? Do i need to buy any more hardware/adapters ect ?
Anyone know the best service's to subscribe to for voip so that we get cheap calls to mobiles as well as free uk mins ?
Any advice will be appreciated.

Hi
Not sure if the hardware you mention is ok but I can recommend sipgate.co.uk. You get a landline number for free and just pay for the calls - call prices are listed on the website.
I use a grandstream Voip phone plugged into a router (with port forwarding setup - details on sipgate website) that connects through Virgin.
Hope this helps!0 -

The PAP2 VoIP only device, it has two FXS ports.
You require a device with FXS and FXO ports.
A Linksys SPA 3102 : http://www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk/Shop/ShopDetail.asp?ProductID=3473 is one such device.
https://www.voip.co.uk have an offer where you pay £20 for the year and evening and weekend calls are included (60 mins per call) and daytime calls are 2p for 60 mins.
I know you can get free TV with phone line, but not noticed free phone line with broadband or TV.
I don't have a phone line at all, I just have 4mbit broadband and free (old starter package) TV service for £20 from VM (offer was extended, as I told them I wouldn't pay the full price), though I know others who have got this even cheaper. VM want an extra £11 for phone line, I won't pay that when VoIP is fine. As I don't need the regular phone line, the PAP2 is ideal for me.
VoIPDiscount, VoIPStunt, Sipgate, VoIPTalk are other services, depends on your needs, all allow BYOD Bring Your Own Device. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
I was offered a lot of different deals when i was on the phone to retentions recently. 1 of the options meant paying £20 less than what i am at the moment for all 3 (Phone E+W,BB 20meg,and some sort of tv package which gives me everything except movies and sport, also got an HD TV drive chucked in to the deal. Anyway all the deals are not time restricted (no ties) so i am free to renegotiate at any time.
Thanks for the advice re voip cheap and also for the link to the required hardware.0 -
Hi
Can you tell me how much VM wanted for all those services and what other price / packages combo's they offered. I'm thinking of calling customer retentions too.
