suppliers/fitters in administration

Hi, I had a new composite door fitted 1 year ago which has now developed a fault (bubbling on the outside of the door). The door has a 10 year guarantee but the manufacturers website says that the guarantee is with the purchaser of the door rather than the householder. As the purchaser was the company that fitted it and they have since gone into administration, who can I go to? Are manufacturers liable for the quality products? any advice would be gratefully received :)

The answer is No, your contract is with the seller/fitter.

Having said that have you been in touch with the manufacturer?

A company in being administration does not mean it has ceased trading.
Many companies, if not most, continue to trade while in administration.
After all, the whole point of administration is to protect the business so that it can continue.

Have you spoken to the administrators?
  • Thank you both - I am going to try the manufacturers and hope for a sympathetic ear, annoyingly, although the company has 'ceased trading' it is actually still trading just under a different name,
    - same premises - same staff! I hadn't considered the administrators, they went into admin in January though so I guess I may be too late for this. Thank you for the replies.
