Impressed with the speed of forum spammers

On my own website today I posted a free spreadsheet template, and left comments open on the post (the only post on the site that is commentable). I didn't tell anyone, didn't get search engine spidered, and it is an incredibly niche template for live running orders and event scripts for live multi act events. Very niche.
Within an hour I had my first comment spam. Of course I'm moderating comments to prevent this from showing, but I am impressed how quickly it was doing and spammed. The only commentable article on a very niche page on a very niche site in a quiet backwater of the internet. Imagine applying that much dedication to eradicating polio, for instance, what a waste of everyone's time this is by comparison.
