Integrated dishwasher for handleless kitchen

Hi All,

Not quite sure what I'd of done without the MSE forums for all this kitchen planning!

My next question is about dishwashers... we are renovating our existing kitchen with Howdens high-gloss white handleless units and I was just about to order a Siemens IQ-100 SN65M031GB dishwasher that got really good Which reviews however on appliances online one of the questions and answers states-

"Unfortunately, the SN65M031GB isn't designed for a handle-less kitchen, as it doesn't have the necessary door opening mechanism - it simply has a pulling mechanism."

It recommends a SMEG dishwasher that seems to have been discontinued - is there anything we need to look for to choose an integrated dishwasher that will work with a handleless (Groove at the top of the fronts) kitchen design?

The kitchen you are looking at is not a handleless kitchen but one with a groove at the top.

Consider your choice carefully as these doors do not offer sufficient grip when used on appliances or heavily loaded draws and with slipping fingers suffer from scratching from nails.

Rgards your dishwasher, any dishwasher will work with this door. SIemens have a new model out with servo opening. Dont have the model number right now, but look at their website.

What they said ^^ you've bought the integrated handle range, Howdens don't do a handleless.

Thanks Ryder72 and Doozergirl, indeed the units are integrated handle, not handleless.

I'm off to look for the Siemens model now, interesting Howdens said today that they've never heard of an issue and any integrated dishwasher would be 'compatible' - whilst that's true in that the door will attach and do what it's meant to, I can see it being really difficult to operate with just the lip/handle at the top of the door. One of the push-action doors such as on the Siemens/SMEG sounds like a good idea so we don't get driven nuts by the door!

Just finished fitting my kitchen which has the same integrated handles
Have a Bosch integrated dishwasher and have no problem opening the door, and the wife, who is no spring chicken also has no problem
Just take care with the fitting of these doors, make sure you do not fit any top screws through the handle section !

Also fitted Bosch dishwasher with howdens white intergrated handle kitchen. Not a problem opening door, though door is heavy so easier to use both hands.

Thanks guys, we've just ordered a SMEG DI6012-1 from ao.com as it had a cashback offer on making it £249 after the rebate comes through. Our old dishwasher was a SMEG and we were always happy with it (Also we're spending so much on this kitchen I'll take any saving I can get at the moment.

I've said it a few times but thanks again for the help - it really is invaluable and does save me a fortune - thank goodness for MSE!

Ditto with having a similar Benchmarx integrated handle kitchen and a Bosch dishwasher with no problems. Unless you have claws rather than fingernails I don't see it being scratched when opened.
