Tenant referencing agency?

I'm applying for a house through an estate agent and they've sent me an email telling me I need to go to vanmildert.net to complete the referencing documents.
Can anyone tell me anything about them? Not entirely happy about my details being passed on! I had assumed that the estate agent would carry out the checks, not sub-contract it to somebody else I know nothing about!

It's very common for letting-agents to use a credit-referencing company. If the landlord is using their Rent Guarantee scheme expect the same...0

(It's not fair or right but..) those are the agents terms: Either do it his way through this company that I've never heard of or you can't even bid for the property.
Having said that they do appear to be real, - eg they are on Companies House & up-2-date with their company returns...0 -
