Email forwarding MESS!

Hi
I've been sending some speculative emails out today applying for jobs at all my local doctors and pharmacists.
I had my covering letter email typed out with the CV attached, so I only needed to change the name of who it was being sent to, and of course the email address who it was going to.
So after I sent my first email, I pressed the forward button, change the name who it was going to and put a different email address in. Fine (or so I thought). But its not fine at all because somehow - and I'd like to know how, when I checked my sent emails to each doctor its got all my previous emails that I sent to all the previous doctors trailing along at the bottom. But when I forwarded each email these prior emails weren't there! - the only thing that was in the email being forwarded was the text which I edited.
I just don't understand whats happened here. Because these emails WEREN'T THERE when I forwarded them, but they show up when I click on a sent email in my sent items folder.
I only forwarded ONE email on at a time (and edited it accordingly), I just can't understand how the others have appeared when they weren't there when I forwarded it??????
Could somebody explain please. Imagine if this was highly confidential information! Needless to say its blown my chances of getting a job at one of these places as every doctor can now see a long list of other doctors/chemists I've wrote off to saying the same things too
I'm just a bit !!!!ed off as I've spent most of the day speculatively applying to these places.
I've forwarded emails in the past no problem, I've no idea whats gone on here though
. I'm so confused and want to make sure this never happens again! Could someone please explain how this has happened?
Many thanks, Anna

What email service are you using? Yahoo!?
When you view the sent email - is it just showing the previous emails just as reference, like in a thread format, just so you can see the chain.
i.e The recipient only recieved the 1 single email that you sent to them. But you can see the thread of multiple emails.
Try forwarding the email to yourself. See if you recieve a single email.0 -
^ thank you for your reply sooler. I thought maybe it was just including them for my reference only - but when I checked by emailing myself they were all there! Like I said I don't understand HOW because when I hit the 'forward' button there was only the text of 1 email (which I edited then forwarded on).
Can anybody else explain how this has happened?0 -

I was also wondering if you were using Yahoo because this is a problem I have heard other users having since the latest "upgrade". Best not to use forward. Create new mail and use cut and paste instead.0 -
^ my thoughts entirely - after this I am always copy and pasting and never trusting the forward button again. Just imagine someone seeing a long trial of confidential emails they were never meant to see, I think its really bad.
This is on hotmail.com, not yahoo. I've never had this problem before and have used hotmail for years.0 -
That's exactly what I would expect to happen. You're not forwarding the content of the previous message. You're forwarding the entire email. Which includes recipient information.
Could you not have done this as a mail merge? I think even the freebies like LibreOffice have a mail merge wizard.0 -
Forward isn't the right tool for the job tbh, but I can see why it's convenient. Could be a box like 'include original text', or similar. When I've done something similar through gmail I found it easier to use 'canned messages' (gmail templates or text fragments) - maybe there's a Hotmail equivalent?0

It's because you've forwarded it, so as far as the 'puter is concerned they are all linked.
Should only be 1 version at each recipient, but you can confirm by sending it to yourself.
2 methods I have used; first is mail merge. Takes a little while to set up but once you are happy you just send it the once.
Second I have used is to set up a template. Every time you open it will be a new email so no string.0 -
If you use forward in this way you have to make sure you delete all the info you don't want to send on in the message body beofre sending.0
