Virgin 0% Credit Card

I was in the process of applying for a Virgin 0% Credit Card yesterday (by phone) and the lady (Hannah) told me that Virgin would charge me for a credit balance to my current account. She said they only offer 0% for credit card balance transfers. I clarified that I wanted a balance transfer - not a cash advance, but she still said I couldn't have it at 0%.
Advice please.

Don't worry Sue, MBNA (who run the Virgin credit card) staff are renowed for their complete lack of knowledge of their own products. There is no fee.

    See this previous thread.

I agree - there is no fee! I have just taken out a Virgin 0% card and the lady i spoke to to activate my card was extremely helpful and clear about that little issue! Plus, that's what the documents say...

Goodoh, just waiting for my documents to drop through the letterbox. What kind of credit limit can I expect?

Its my first foray into stoozing, and a 10k limit would suit me just fine :T

    cheers

All depends on your situ, but a friend got one and only got a low limit (either 4 or 5k) rung up and said they needed 10k and got it!

No such luck for me, was offered 4k with M&S but needed more - they're not playing ball and have told me no, sorry
2p off is still 2p off!

Here's a link to the UK Virgin credit card website.

Sue B - My Virgin CC SBT into my current account went through earlier this month. I received my first CC statement from them this week and it shows no charges.
    Please call me 'Kazza'.

Spoke to Virgin (chaps name was Martin) he says they'll charge me to balance transfer into my current acc, I questioned him on this and he says Virgin have enforced it since last week... Not sure whether to take it out.

I did my Virgin SBT on Thursday of last week - and it was no fee. There was no inkling of any change - but if there is, then I'm glad I took the advice and did it before waiting for my card to come through!

This seems to be a continuing source of confusion.

The T's and C's clearly say they "may" charge - but the call centre agents seem to give mixed responses. Most people appear not to be charged.

Surely, as consumers we have a right for clarification - and that "may" is just not on as a condition for a product. Does that in principle allow them to charge me 10% for a transfer if they want - or 15%.....? What are the circumstances under which a "may" clause can be invoked? Purely at their discretion?
