There is every point, as this default or lack of is now the single limiting factor determining how long cookyy2k's credit file will be harmed for.

Creditors can mark the account as being in a DMP. This marker will remain until the account is settled.

Nonsense. DMP markers do not apply to defaulted accounts, and defaulted accounts are removed after 6 years no matter what. Once dropped off there will be nothing on there about a DMP or the debt, even if the DMP is still running.

  • Stop paying, wait for default, resume paying.

Complaining and referring to ICO or FOS will just prolong the whole thing.

Hello - OP I completely understand your issue. If the accounts are Defaulted now, they will disappear in six years - if you are on a permanent Arrangement to Pay, this will show on your file for 6 years after the account is settled.

I had exactly this with Barclaycard. I agreed with them that their policy of AP's was wrong (when I eventually spoke to the right person they admitted that their policy had changed to doing defaults, but that this had not filtered to all their people). I had the AP's changed to a default which by then was more than six years in the past so they all came off of my file. I will send you the details of the person and team I spoke to (at work now but will do this evening) - don't dispare!

Could you please let me have a telephone number for someone at Barclaycard Customer Relations, in order for me to discuss this with them?
I've a similar problem, as to what you had.

    Many thanks.

  • I phoned Barclays tonight and they are refusing to change my file from arrangement to default. I would have defaulted around December 2010.

Their answer is that I'm in a formal arrangement so they will continue to mark it as that.
