Affordable Colour LASER Printer

Options
This is one of the cheapest colour laser printers I've ever seen advertised for sale.

http://www.misco.co.uk/HPSinfo/~99662~WW~/Exclusive%20network%20colour%20laser%20offer!.htm

May be worth looking at if you are in the market for one.

    Cheap to buy - definatley.

However bear in mind a replacement set of toner will cost more than the printer ! at about £250 a set its not for the faint hearted.

Can anyone point me towards a cheap source of refills for this machine, as I'd really like to buy one, but the comment above ref refills has frightened me!!
  • This one is a bit cheaper, plus you can use a discount voucher to save another £10 or so off.

Unfortunately, it shows as out of stock at the moment - but might be worth bookmarking.
  • With regard to the toner for the OP's printer - cheapest I can find is This which is a remanufactured one for £35 (remember thats just the one colour though). New ones best price I can find is around £43.

Although you will need different colours, one thing to bear in mind is that they will each last as long as a regular mono toner (in most cases anyway), so at these kind of prices they don't really work out more expensive than a mono toner.

Need to be careful though, because some Colour Laser printers use cartridges that you simply can't get for less than £100 - wise to check consumable prices before buying.

This was posted on another site:

"You can get toner refills at places like www.proprint.co.uk - black's around £20, colours around £30 - email them if you have any questions, they're usually happy to help "
  • I think the mintola is a better deal, as it also has ethernet and a 2 year warranty. I dont know what the print quality is like, however. I noticed it also has linux support, which is pretty cool.

As for proprint.co.uk, they dont seem to have the model mentioned & their site is made with frontpage, so I wouldnt buy off them.

Don't think it will be expensive to run because of toner costs.
The toner may cost more than an inkjet cartridge but remember that it can print much more than an inkjet cartridge.
It will work out cheaper in the long run, but it's only worth it if you print a lot of stuff.

    Edit:
Be warned though, you will need to have the space for it!!! Colour lasers take a lot of space!!

Id love to see you working out for that. Using "compatible" toner you will get approximatly 1500 sheet of "average" coverage from £120 worth of refil toner.

Compatible ink carts are £3 tops ( Epson ones anyway ) - so around 40 carts for the £120, so to work out cheaper it an inkjet cart would have to perform worse than 37 pages per cart of "average coverage". I doubt many people get that low coverage from there inkjets ( remembering that lasers dont print photos so were talking colour DTP content ;-) ).

  • Also, if you check back on the link, there is an updated for an additional 2 years onsite Warranty for FREE!!!!

Exactly where are you getting your prices from?
I'm not talking about compatible refill toner (But if you do get it then you will find it much cheaper than what you're quoting! It's a question of shopping around.)
Toner prices tend to vary for exactly the same cartridges, so you shop around.
Also high capacity toner cartridges can print a lot more than 1500 pages, try around 4000.
With toner you only replace what you use, whereas with most inkjet cartridges the colour is combined.
I do agree with the 'lasers don't print photos statement' though.
