For the last few years I have bought a frozen turkey crown from Aldi for £10 and it serves 6 of us easily with more for sandwiches at night. I bought mine again from Aldi last week.
It depends if you want a crown or a full turkey, organic, free range or just a bog standard good price turkey with lots of meat. I like a turkey crown as I like lots of meat0 -

I generally just get a bog-standard frozen one from Iceland or Farmfoods or Aldi. TBH I think by the time you've added all the trimmings they taste fine. I need to compare prices (so will be keeping an eye on this thread) but first need to clear space in freezer!0 -
There's a Good Housekeeping blind taste test thread somewhere here that recommends a specific Morrisons one this year. Change from £20, unlike the second best one which retailed at around £37!
Depending on numbers and (ahem) culinary skill, you may want to make space in the freezer or select a specific Bit of Bird. (I'm a *dreadful* cook - one year I bought turkey slices from the deli counter & the sighs of relief were a delight to the ear.)0 -

I've already got the Aldi pudding. Must take a trip to Morrisons. Can't imagine the £37 from Aldi:eek: walking out of the store.0 -

I went to Aldi to buy one of these last year and they had sold out within the first hour.
They're not only free range but are given an exceptionally good natural life which is why I wanted to buy one.0 -
When we were really broke, we would buy Smartprice turkey drumsticks, one per person from ASDA, also turkey mince so we could make some turkey leftover type recipes.
I still buy a turkey drumstick (£2) to make turkey and leek soup and turkey mince (2.50) from ASDA.
Definitely NOT worth buying is the Waitrose organic sliced roast turkey breast though. Yuck.0 -
I normally get a turkey joint from Iceland - the cook from frozen range, (9/10)
we've had Lidl turkey crown in tray - thats nice (8/10)
Last yr I got Bernard Matthews Turkey Crown, £9.99 from Sainsburys - butter basted, have to say that was a 10/10
Noticed that Farmfoods have turkey crown for £10. xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
It will be the local butcher for me. I want to know the turkey has had a decent life and I can visit the local farm he gets them from. Supermarket 'best buys' are all well and good but a big supermarket will source from numerous suppliers and you can't be sure, in December, that the turkey tasted by a magazine writer in July will be anything like the same.0

Last year we got a whole bird from Lidl when it was on offer (frozen) and it was lovely, this year we've got a turkey crown from Aldi for £9.99 in the freezer.
No1 son is pleased as he hates turkey soup haha.
I would love to use the butcher but cannot afford a fresh one.
